Holbox

I finally managed to leave Tulum. I must thank the rain for this. It was raining since two days and the forecast wasn't really good for the rest of the week. So there was no reason for me to stay in Tulum, not being able to go to the beach or to dive in a cenote. I waited for a week to get rid of my cold to dive, but now that I almost feel better, I can't to dive : as I explained in one of my previous post, the sun rays entering into a cenote make these places magical. But without sun.... Not sure if it's really worth it...
So I'm going now north, thinking to go back south as soon as the sun comes up again.
My next destination is Holbox, a very little island where during this period groups of whale sharks come. Whale Sharks are the biggest fishes in the world, they can reach the length of 15m!!! Apparently this is the last year the Mexican government allows tours to swim with Whale Sharks, probably because these fishes, year after year, underwent lot of stress because of the human contact. But now I'm here, in the right moment in the right place and I really hope you be able to swim with this sharks.....

Last update :
I got to the island. All the (unpaved) road are submerged, water everywhere. Luckily, it wasn't raining during our walk to get to the hostel, but once we arrived.... Rain, rain and rain...
We learned that with this rain there are no tours to get to see whale sharks. These fishes eat plancton, but during a raining day the plancton is brought deep down and so there are no possibilities to see whale shark swimming on the surface.
The rain will last at least a week in all the Yucatan area, so there is no so much I can do and no where I can go.
I will just spend some time in my hostel, reading, watching movies, talking with people, cooking and eating.
Hard life of a backpackers!

This is the actual situation in Mexico...
