Cenote Dzitnup

In the area near Valladolid, there are many cenotes , so after a short ride with a collettivo, I went to the cenote Dzitnup. According to my travel guide, this is one of the most beautiful one. According to me, it wasn't that special like the cenotes I previously visited. It's one of the oldest cenotes, with really beautiful rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites. But to suite the cenote to a big amount of tourists, a big part of the cenote was cementificate and many artificial lights (with metres of cables very well exposed) were set all around. Nothing comparing with the complete natural state of cenote Calavera. Despite all this talking, swimming in a cenote is always a good experience, in particular when you arrive early and the cenote is only for you... But don't try to be smart and arrive too early... The cenote should be open between 8am till 5pm. Of course in Latin country opening hours are very subjective. The man selling the entrance tickets arrived only at 8:30. After buying the tickets we went to the cenote, we went down the stairs and we found the gate close. We went up again asking to open the cenote, but the man in charge of the keys wasn't there. We waited other 20 minutes before someone showed up to open the gate. In general I take it easy with all these delays, but this time we already organised with the collettivo driver to pick us up at 10am. Of course, at 10am he didn't show up and after waiting for 20 minutes we found another collettivo. Never trust a Latin American about schedule time!
