Tulum ruins

Tulum is the only Maya's city built on the coast. It was built in the XIII century when the Maya civilization was already in decline and was used as a seaport to trade turquoise and jade. To protect the city, a wall was erected all around, unique example in the Maya's cities. Besides the port , Mayas built here El Castillo and some temples (temple of the Frescoes, temple of the Descending God (or Diving God) and temple of the God of Wind). Walking between the ruins, my mind run far away, till Cesarea Marittima (קיסריה), a Roman port town on the Mediterranean Coast of Israel. The contrast between the ruins and the colour of the sea leaves you without words. Like in Cesarea, also here you can see tourists taking more pictures of the sea than the ruins... And also here, you can take a refreshing break into the water. Just after entering in the sea you can appreciate another view of the ruins from a different point of view. Spectacular!!! (Just a funny note: the entrance fee to the ruins doesn't cover the use of the camera. If you want to take pictures, you need to pay an extra 4$.I don't know if they still apply this rule, because when I bought my ticket, they didn't make me pay the camera fee (even if I had my camera in my hand and obviously I wanted to take pictures... )
